A lovely afternoon gathering was recently held at the home of Laurie and Joseph Scanlin. The purpose of the event was to welcome new Naples Islands Garden Club members and to help orient them to all of the opportunities that are available to them. Members of the Board introduced themselves and explained their individual NIGC duties. We are an inclusive club, and we welcome any and all ideas and volunteerism! Dalia Brunner from Rogers Gardens started off the new NIGC season with a fun filled program about “Hardy Flowering Shrubs”. She brought dozens of examples to share with the members and explained each one, including where and how to use them in Naples gardens. We learned many do’s and don’ts when planting. She described “full sun” to mean full sun exposure from 11am to 3:30pm daily and “partial” sun exposure meaning full sun morning to noon. Dalia presented a humorous side whi

The Plant Boutique was a great success thanks to all who helped. We couldn't have done it without all the amazing donations and purchases from our members and neighbors. The day was filled with lots of fun, laughs and wonderful energy. We look forward to next year's boutique!
