ARBOR DAY 2019

The NIGC 2019 Arbor Day Memorial Tribute was a moving and uplifting morning. NIGC President Marianne Huntley gave a short history of the origin of Arbor Day and an explanation of our annual donation to the San Bernadino Forest Penny Pines program in tribute to each garden club member who had passed during the preceding year.

Naples Bayside Student Council then presented joyous, heartfelt poems of spring, trees and nature. They were inspired by Principal Mrs. Athena Uribe to think of spring renewal. Some students even wrote their own material -- true poets!

Arbor Day Co-Chair Kristie Nairne spoke about Arbor Day, connecting the ideas of planting and renewal to The Family Tree, weaving together the love we have for those in our lives, past and present. The highlight of the ceremony was the 11 Honorees who shared stories of their loved ones who had passed. Upon leaving, Honoree families were given a beautiful orchid from the NIGC, and a colorful Birdhouse or Birdnest, lovingly crafted by the Student Council children."
