Naples Islands Garden Club Annual Spark of Love Luncheon

The Naples Islands Garden Club (NIGC) continued a cherished holiday tradition with its annual Spark of Love Christmas Luncheon, held December 17 at the Virginia Country Club – a longstanding partnership with the Long Beach Fire Department’s Spark of Love Toy Drive.

A highlight of the afternoon was the arrival of volunteer firefighters from Long Beach Fire Station 5, with its signature red fire engine to collect the donations. Due to the volume of gifts, a fire department truck and trailer were also needed.

The event was co-chaired by Arleen Tolle and Beverly Butters Lane, with support from a 17-member planning committee. A festive gold, green, and white décor set the tone for the luncheon, which welcomed 117 attendees. Guests donated gift cards totaling $1,620 plus a mountain of toys!

NIGC President Linda Frame welcomed special guests including Long Beach Fire Chief Dennis Buchanan, Spark of Love Coordinator Will Nash, Press-Telegram columnist Shirley Wild, and Alamitos Bay Neighbors publisher Mary Zerafa Loos. Along with the merry melodies from pianist, Ralph Brunson, the program included a surprise joyful performance by a 12-member choral group from Long Beach City College.

Through its continued commitment to Spark of Love, the Naples Islands Garden Club remains dedicated to making the holiday season brighter for children and families across the Long Beach community.
