Thank you members and guests for making the 2019 Fall Fundraiser a fun and very profitable event! You are dedicated, generous, and great women. Our community is better for your continuous support. Special thank you to Lisa Mauck for hosting Sip, Nibble, Donate and to Vicki Sawtelle for excellent record keeping. To all of you who donated wine and food, assisted with check-in, set-up or cleaned-up, you are terrific!

Our November speaker was given an Honorary Membership to the Naples Islands Garden Club! Suzie Price, 3rd District Councilperson, is always a very informative guest speaker regarding our City and NIGC supporter. Some of the topics covered included parking as an issue on our island. Red curbs are being looked at to be shortened and street sweepers having a phone app to show when they passed making the street immediately available for parking are being considered. A new large shelter will open in 2020 with 129 beds to deal with homelessness. Assistance will be provided for substance and mental health counseling. The shelter will accept families and pets which many don't allow at the moment.

Red Apron Ladies - Beautification Projects

Debbie Tebrich organized a large-scale refurbishing of the containers on Second St. Eight am was the kickoff time as members in red aprons moved down, block by block, from Union Bank to Naples Plaza. Succulents were removed from containers, potting soil was added, plants were re-positioned and new plants were potted. Many of the plants were from the succulent nursery Debbie nurtures at her canal home. Tree wells were also cleared, sidewalks swept and all containers watered thoroughly. New member Charlotte Morrison was welcomed to the group who now will maintain containers on their own. A hearty NIGC turnout also powered a vigorous clean-up at La Bella Fontana Park a few days before Vetera

It was a sunny Veterans Day morning at La Bella Fontana Park when our community gathered to honor local veterans and families. After coffee and donuts were served, a drum cadence by Roland Misajon opened the program. Boy Scout Troop #105 posted the Colors and led the Pledge of Allegiance. NIGC President, Marianne Huntley, gave a warm welcome and along with Veterans Day Co-Chairs, Susie Armstrong and Deborah Smith, presented a floral wreath. Councilperson Suzie Price gave a patriotic community service speech, after which Marianne introduced and honored each of the nearly 40 Veterans who attended. Marilyn Bittle led our closing song tribute, “God Bless America.” We thank our NIGC Veterans Day Co

Charming, witty, humorous and knowledgeable describes our October speaker, Steve Conti—“appraiser to the stars”. Steve gave us many helpful hints regarding our “old” things. Foremost he said, “document your items while you still can” and “don't touch old things such as polishing items, just leave them in their original condition.” Some of the usual items brought in and admired included: - Sterling silver hand made spoons with different flowers on top of each handle, one for each region of Australia. - Old sleigh bells used on horses and mules. - Depression glass salt and pepper shakers with stand. California Tudor tiles made by hand. Marion - Vintage nylon-silk stockings and unused spat

Dine Out at Nico’s was a very fun filled event. The drinks were delicious and the food was spectacular. We had a large attendance and nearly filled up the place. We are now looking forward to another exciting evening at Naples Rib Co. on Wednesday December 4th. Tired of turkey, cooking and leftovers? Join your fellow neighbors and meet at Naples Rib Co. where yummy ribs, baked potato, a sizzling steak, and corn bread await you. Of course they have many more things on the menu as well. See you there!

New members energized beautification projects in October by donning their new red aprons and joining garden volunteers at Naples School, La Bella Fontana, and Naples Plaza median. Because of our year-round growing season, beautification projects are year round as well. This is a "win-win" for the red apron brigades as it keeps our community looking loved and tidy and members enjoy camaraderie on a regular basis.
