2ND & PCH : A REINVISIONED LONG BEACH GATEWAY ORANGE COUNTY DISTRICT MEETING 2018
Mr. Barrett Bradley of Center Cal Properties was the debut speaker of NIGC's 2018-2019 general meetings. He used power point to illustrate the 11 acre retail center's blend of retail and services in an “outdoor living room” atmosphere. A Whole Foods 'flagship store' will anchor the property's PCH and Second St. corner. 1100 parking spaces, community gathering spaces, high quality restaurants on level 2 and a boardwalk along Marina Drive were explained. Fountains and lush landscaping will also be unique aspects of the center. Installation of a new traffic signal on PCH and synchronization of all lights is expected by the opening of the 220,000 sq. foot 2nd and PCH project in October, 2019. The city will redo the Marina parking lot across the street and improve landscaping. The lot may become a “pay lot”. A lively question and answer session followed as members focused on traffic, the Marina Drive “road diet”, and the removal of mature palm trees from medians and along the roadside. Mr. Bradley stated the city has not completed the traffic and landscaping plan for Marina Drive.
